Hey everyone!

So in light of this being my first blog post I looked up some trending topics and one of the more interesting was one regarding FLOTUS Melania and her choice of attire to help those in Houston. I was greatly surprised by the amount of backlash over some heels... I mean at least she showed up right? I was actually more surprised that she actually made not one but two appearances, now I know it may be kinda hard to really be of use with stilettos on but what I think is even more intriguing was how much time was spent on this topic. Is it relevant? I mean in my opinion no but to each their own I guess. I often wonder why the media choose to hone in on some of the things that they do but you can check out an article I read here.

  1. While I am typically quick to criticize the president and occasionally the first lady as well, I agree that this issue was blown way out of proportion. Many times during the Obama presidency, FLOTUS Michelle was often criticized by the right due to the expensive dresses she wore. This is the same thing that is happening on the left, where they are criticizing Melania for her choice in shoes. Surely, heels are not the most robust shoes to wear when helping relieve citizens affected by a hurricane. However, who actually expected her to do any heavy lifting or strenuous helping anyway? Should the first lady be out in the trenches getting her hands dirty, literally, in a situation like this? Interesting choice in blog topic!
